Corpus Christi College Oxford
This auditorium is a multi-purpose performance space for Corpus Christi College Oxford, one of the University’s oldest colleges, founded in 1517. The building is located in the south west corner of the college within a bastion of the 13th century city wall.
The project created a flexible space to accommodate seminars, lectures for up to 136 people, drama and musical events, a 40 person round table, as well as college parties and banquets for 80 diners.
Given the flexibility of the space, the lighting installation and the electrical controls for the various audio-visual functions had to be highly adaptable to create the right conditions for every event.
This new building replaces a smaller music room. A skylight above the theatre space provides views of Christ Church Cathedral, while a large picture window overlooks the trees of the college gardens.
